The
CNL Goals
In today’s world, ongoing learning is essential to lead the
integration of service and business that best supports the health and well being
of people. The Center is interested in offering accessible and meaningful
leadership education for nurse leaders at all levels nationally and
internationally. Learning is designed to assist nurses to gauge their own
leadership strengths and to excel in professional and personal growth.
The Center offers the one-year Journey Toward Mastery as the essential step
into lifelong learning for leadership. A select group of highly accomplished
nurse leaders participate and learn through a program that emphasizes
self-directed, participative and continuous learning.
The
CNL Activities
Center activities include a variety of experiences based on the participants’
expertise and career interests and needs:
- The Journey Toward Mastery, a year-long leadership program that serves as
the initial entry to the Community, a continuing fellowship of nursing
leaders committed to transformation.
- Co-creating and participating in a collaborative learning community.
- Publications and spin-off programs to disseminate and enhance the results
of Center research and resources.
The
CNL Design Characteristics
The design characteristics of Center activities are:
- Active partnerships between the participants and the faculty.
- Emphasis on cross learning (from one discipline or setting to
another).
- Continuous
rather than episodic learning.
- Focus on action learning, learning partnerships, and
real-life challenges.
- Fostering an interdependent mindset, and incorporate perspectives
of other members of the team, involving them in Center activities
whenever possible.
- Focus on specific functional skills which influence the external world,
coupled with transformational skills which influence the internal world
of values, beliefs, and the spirit
